Emergency Room RN

Full time swing shift nurse.. CMC is very fast paced, high acuity emergency room. CMC’s ER is 100% computerized. This gave me a great deal of familiarity with all aspects of computer documentation.  CMC is the NH’s number one cardiac center.  The ER developed a direct to CATH LAB protocol and all nursing staff were specially trained in cardiac emergencies. CMC also has a large psychiatric population, strengthening my skills in psych nursing and providing me an extensive knowledge of the emergent treatment of this patient population.

Emergency Room RN

December 2000-October 2004 Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, NH

Per Diem (worked 32-36 hours a week) Lakes is a very busy trauma center that services a large tourist area with the summer population doubling in the summer. I participated in the creation of an in hospital paramedic position resulting in better health care providers to patient ratios and decreased wait times for patient care. Lakes adopted a team nursing approach to care in the ER.  This style of nursing helped us better manage high volumes of patients.  It also allowed us to design and implement an assigned trauma and code team every shift.

As a resource RN (charge) I reported to the director of the ER and was responsible for all flow of patients in and out of the department.  In this role I managed up to 8 or 9 nurses and paramedics in any given shift.
